Sin-hua District was once called Tavocan and was a part of the Xingangshe Siraya settlement of the Pingpu People. Ancient gazettes describing the region also referred to it as Damujiang. During the reign of Prince Zheng Chenggong of the Ming Dynasty, Sin-hua District was part of the Ganhua and Guangchu villages.
